We were talking about it the other night with DJs Gemini, Salvatore Freda and Nicolas Duvoisin: how lucky we were to live in Lausanne, Switzerland, at the beginning of this century ! And with good reason: several alternative electronic music clubs (the Loft Club, the Cult and later the legendary Ruche), flagships able to accommodate over 1,000 people (the MAD, the D!Club still existing nowadays), underground festivals (Electrosanne, Break da Röstigraben) and everything else we’ve forgotten in the meantime.
DJ’s, it’s time to get back to work. UZIC radio in partnership with the Odiolab association have decided to reactivate Lausanne’s electronic & underground scene with a radio festival and DJ contest. In this article, we’ll be taking a closer look at the DJ contest.
mUZIC.radio DJ contest: how it works
From June 30 to August 10, 2025 inclusive, DJs from Switzerland and beyond can send the electronic music they mix and/or produce to the UZIC team.
For the mUZIC.radio festival occurring from August 18 to September 16, 2025, each audio submission will be listened to and evaluated by our panel of experts (well-known local artists). The winners of the DJ contest will have the opportunity to play in Lausanne or Geneva during one of the 8 free events organized during the festival. So, how does this DJ contest actually work?
- Go to the DJ contest page of the site to register online and submit your music as an artist (mix, live-act or track);
- Listenings by our experts will start on July 15, 2025 ;
- The UZIC team will contact the winners to confirm their participation at the mUZIC.radio festival.
For their presence at the mUZIC.radio festival, each selected artist will be promoted (website, FM radio, A2 poster, etc.) and compensated.
DJ’s, don’t wait to get your groove on!
From downtempo to deep house, minimal, tech-house or techno, the UZIC programming team and our expert DJs are looking forward to a good groovy sound! Spread the word, because everything will be going great from the 2nd half of July onwards: the program is due to be completed by the end of the month, and we’ve already started receiving the first demos. When it’s good, we’re quick to program talented DJs!
So, what’s left of Lausanne’s alternative culture? Well, we’ll see. We’re hoping for nuggets mixed by young talent… or not-so-young. Electronic music is keeping pace, even if it has aged quite a bit: when you hear today’s ‘melodic techno’, you can’t help but think back to the progressive-trance we couldn’t bear anymore at the end of last century. Yes, life is just a long, drawn-out process!
