House music made in Lausanne? This weekend at the mUZIC.radio festival

Lausanne, nightlife capital of French-speaking Switzerland

In the 1990s and 2000s, Lausanne’s nightlife pulsated to the beat of numerous frenetic clubs :

  • at the gates of hell, the Loft electroclub and its staircase leading down to the Flon district, which still cultivated its seedy atmosphere.
  • left for the D!club (house) or right for the MAD (trance)? Unless you changed your mind and went to the Cult, more exclusive and now defunct…
  • …before La Ruche took over in 2006, not far away, with an alternative club that even people of Zurich envied us! Until it closed down too.

Some venues disappeared, but they left behind a musical legacy that the mUZIC.radio festival is delighted to celebrate over the weekend.

mUZIC, a radio festival ?

Organised by the Odiolab association in collaboration with UZIC radio, the 1. edition of the mUZIC.radio festival kicked off on 18 August 2025 and runs from Lausanne to Geneva.

In addition to broadcasting 24/7 on the internet (mUZIC.radio) and on FM radio for 30 days until 16 September (FM 90.4 in Lausanne or FM 101.7 in Geneva), the festival takes over the Centre Pluriculturel et Social d’Ouchy (CPO) every weekend for free electronic music events. The goal keeps unchanged : provide a showcase for alternative artists by combining radio broadcasts and live energy !

Back to house

Born in Chicago’s underground clubs in the 1980s, House music established itself in Europe as the sound of dancefloors after the Disco era. Its rhythmic beat, warm groove and variations (deep house, tech house, progressive, etc.) have made it a pillar of electronic music.

The Back 2 House after-work party on Friday 5 September will set the tone with Mike A.C. & Jay Castelli, 2 DJs who know their stuff and will kick off the weekend with an exploration oscillating between immersive deep house and festive tech house.

Saturday, 6 September: 3 artists “made in Lausanne” at the mUZIC.radio festival

Saturday 6th, make way for a deep house line-up featuring 3 iconic figures of Lausanne’s underground scene :

Dirty Flav
A former member of the duo The Vintage supported in his early days by Eddie Amador and Erick Morillo, his tracks have been hits on Beatport and played by legends such as Pete Tong and Roger Sanchez. A long-time resident DJ at D! Club, he has been promoting since 2009 his solo project Dirty Flav, a mix of deep and tech house. He is a regular guest in Ibiza, Berlin and London.

Benito
A multidisciplinary artist (music, painting, writing), Benito offers colourful sets, ranging from unbridled house to cheeky Italo disco and melodic progressive. After making his debut at La Ruche, he is now a resident DJ at Folklor and has performed at prestigious venues such as the Golden Gate in Berlin and Caprices Festival.

Manolo
A tireless digger, Manolo cut his teeth in the shadow of La Ruche. His minimal, groovy and sexy selection embodies the underground spirit of Lausanne. A former member of crazy duos such as P.A.K.A. or Lowrel & Hardy, he is now making a name for himself as a solo artist. He has been seen and heard at Modernity and People in the City festivals.

Música, hombres!

With these 5 artists, the mUZIC.radio festival keeps up playing its role as a catalyst for the alternative electronic scene in French-speaking Switzerland. With our unmissable pre-parties to recapture the spirit of Lausanne’s nightlife, come along and let your hair down (but not too much!).
